The Zul’Akari Clans are a confederation of jungle, marsh, and lake-dwelling peoples in the north-west of Arkhaven.

They are difficult to conquer due to the density of their terrain, the danger of local wildlife and monsters, and the defensive knowledge of the clans who live there.

Government

Zul’Akari is governed by a council of elders representing the largest and most influential peoples within the region.

These elders act as clan leaders and are advised by shamans, oracles, and other spiritual figures.

Leadership is not fully centralised. The balance of power between the clans can shift depending on population, military strength, religious influence, and alliances between groups.

Region and Biome

Zul’Akari lies in the north-western reaches of Arkhaven.

Its landscape is made up of dense jungle, wetlands, marshes, rivers, and access to a massive freshwater lake.

The environment is humid, dangerous, and difficult for outsiders to navigate or occupy.

Culture

Zul’Akari culture is clan-based, territorial, and strongly tied to the land.

Each people maintains its own customs, traditions, and social structures, though the clans will cooperate when facing external threats.

Ancient ruins, dungeons, and lost sites are usually treated as sacred places rather than abandoned structures. Outsiders who attempt to loot them are likely to be treated as enemies.

The clans also trade with the Free Peoples of Kharad in the Kharad Wildlands, particularly with goliath rulers and Loxodon communities.

Religion and Magic

Religion is important throughout Zul’Akari, but it varies between peoples.

Different clans worship gods, spirits, ancestors, or powers associated with their own traditions.

Despite this, external threats usually force cooperation.

The main outside pressures come from the Haskarn Freeholds, who are human expansionists, and the Eldermarch Court, whose northern jungle-themed elves have their own interests in the region.
